Turtles are very similar to tortoises. Turtles live in the water and do occasionally come out to the land to lay there eggs. They lay their eggs on the same beach they were born on. Turtles can live for 20 - 70 years. 

 

Turtles have a smooth flat shell to protect them from predators. If they sense danger the tuck their head into the shell so they can't get hurt. 

 

They also have webbed feet to help them swim in the water. Their feet have long claws for attacking things. They are omnivores which means they eat fruits, plants and meet.
