Frogs and toads

Frogs need to live near water to survive. They have smooth, moist skin which makes them look slimy. They have long hind legs to help them jump further and higher. Frogs lay their eggs in clusters and when they are born they live in the water and are called tadpoles. frogs have sticky feet so they can climb on trees and not fall off.

Toads do not need to live near the water to survive. They have dry and bumpy skin. They don't have many predators because their skin lets out a bitter taste and smell which burns the eyes and nostrils of predators. Some toads lay eggs and some give birth to live young. Baby toads are called polliwogs or tadpoles.
