Sloths are a medium-sized mammal in the Pilosa family, which means they are related to anteaters and armadillos. Sloths live for 10 - 30 years.  Sloths usually only leave the tree they live in to go to the toilet once a week. This is when they are most vulnerable to predators such as jaguars, snakes and the harpy eagle.  

 

When sloths are moving on the ground they go at a speed of 2 metres a minute. And when they are in the tree's they go at a slightly faster speed of 3 metres a minute.

 

Sloths sleep for a lot of the day. It used to be thought that sloths sleep for 15 - 20 hours a day, but now it is believed that they only sleep for 10 hours a day.
